General Meetings

WMUC will begin holding weekly meetings every TUESDAY at 7pm. We will be discussing the activities of the station and planning events. This is a great way for all returning and new members to get involved. All members are encouraged to join.

More information regarding the Open House will be posted when more info is available (expect Mid-February).

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute

Join Dave Sisson of “Dave’s Record Collection” on Saturday, January 13th, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM as he features a tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the history of civil rights in America. This unique show features a blend of songs and speeches about a historical figure, and an emotional look back into the history of our country and key changes over the last 50 years.

Dave & Dominick’s Christmas Party – Saturday Dec. 23, 2006

Join Dave of Dave’s Record Collection and Dominick of Electric Candle Radio as they work to bring you the annual Dave and Dominick’s Christmas Party! It’s a six hour celebration of traditional (and non-traditional) songs and comedy for the Christmas season, including a generous portion of Bob Rivers’ Twisted Christmas along with the “Christmas Anthem”, Root Boy Slim’s “Christmas at K-Mart.” Catch the cheer from 3 to 9PM, Satuday, Dec. 23, 2006. “Turn on, tune in, and let us groove”.

This Saturday, Dec. 2: Commerate Jimi Hendrix's Birthday

Join Dominick of Electric Candle and Dave of Dave’s Record Collection on Saturday, December 2, for a six hour celebration of what would have been Jimi Hendrix’s 64th birthday. Tune in to hear Jimi’s musicianship at its finest, from the popular to the rare and obscure, as well as interviews and masterful covers by a number of artists influenced by Hendrix’s work.

It’s sure to be a sonic “experience” as only Jimi himself can dish out, so tune to 88.1FM or listen online beginning at 3:00 PM! “Turn on, tune in, and let us groove.”

Negashi Armada on Don’t Be a Menace this Sunday at 5pm

Negashi Armada, of ATL’s classy hip-hop collective Supreeme, will be calling Ja and Adam, around 5pm on Sunday, for an on-air interview during this week’s “Don’t Be a Menace (while sippin on crunk juice in college park).” Hear from the man who wants to “screw Rosario Dawson before his time is through.” Tune into the whole show to hear some awesome bump-n-grind.

Larry Walker and Friends on Tin Pan Alley LIVE

Larry Walker, aka DiZZy DiZaSta, will be performing LIVE on Tin Pan Alley this Wednesday evening (11/29) from 8 to 10 pm in my first-ever rap show. Come down to the studios to see the man in action or tune in to WMUC 88.1 FM.

In addition to some fresh beats, there will be refreshments and front-row seats for anyone who comes to the show.

Saturday Nov. 11: Travesty Ltd. Interview Live!


Tune in to Electric Candle Radio and Dave’s Record Collection this Saturday, November 11, beginning at 3:00 PM. Dominick and Dave will be interviewing Travesty LTD. This local comedy act released “Teen Comedy Party”, containing “Rock & Roll Doctor” (frequently featured on Dr. Demento compilations.) Most of the original cast will be in the studio and live on air! Tune in or come by the station this Saturday!

WMUC Open Mic This Friday, November 10th

There will be an Open Mic this coming FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH, 2006 at 7pm. Everyone is invited to come participate or watch. Participants may sign up at the open mic and all genres are welcome! Food will be provided by Atlantic Bread Company so we encourage you to come out, bring friends, and have a good time!

The Open Mic will be held at WMUC Studios which is above the South Campus Dining Hall.

Upcoming WMUC Events

First, On November 2, WMUC Radio is hosting a presentation of Burn to Shine 3: Portland, a documentary about bands and musicians from Portland, Oregon, in the Prince George’s Room in the Stamp Student Union. This is the most recent release in the Burn to Shine series, directed by Washington, DC-based filmmaker Brendan Canty, who may be best known as the drummer in DC punk group Fugazi. Burn to Shine 3 features performances from 11 Portland-based artists, including Sleater-Kinney, the Shins, the Decemberists, Mirah, the Gossip, and more.
